ABOUT EVERTON LUIZ

Born in Macaúbas – BA, he began his studies at the age of 11 at the Nossa Senhora da Imaculada Conceição Philharmonic in the city of Macaúbas-BA. He has a degree in Music Education – lic. in transverse flute at the Federal University of Goiás where he was a student of professors Sérgio Barrenechea, Luis Carlos Furtado and Norton Morozowicz. He holds a Master's Degree in Music, Culture and Society from the same institution, under the guidance of Prof. Drª Magda Clímaco. He is currently head conductor of the State of Goiás Symphonic Band and member of the Banda Pequi, acting as 1st tenor sax and flutist. He has already studied with renowned musicians such as Joel Nascimento, Wendell Dobbs (USA), among others. He studied conducting with Mônica Giardini, Emílio de Cesar, Gottfried Engels (GER), Roberto Farias and Claudio Cruz. He won the competition for soloist of the Jean Doulliez Orchestra and was third in the UFG Young Talents competition. He successfully participated in several music festivals in Brazil, where he took classes with internationally renowned teachers. He played with names such as: Nelson Faria, Arismar do Espírito Santo, Leila Pinheiro, Toninho Horta, Elza Soares, João Bosco, Gilson Peranzzetta, among others. He was a flute teacher at the Anápolis Music Festival in 2012, the International Music Festival in Goiânia, the Canto da Primavera Festival and flute workshop for the musicians of the Orquestra Manancial in Palmas-TO in 2013 and gave a wind workshop at the Siete Octavos school in Buenos Aires-Argentina in 2014. In 2015 he played and taught wind workshops at the University of Évora in Portugal, played at the Tai Escuela Universitaria de Artes in Madrid-Spain, at the Clube do Choro de ParisFrança, in Zurich-Switzerland and Barcelona- Catalunia, gave a workshop at the University of California San Diego, USA, in 2018, played in Beijing and Shanghai, China, in 2018 and 2019, at the invitation of the Brazilian Embassy in China, activities carried out with the Brasil in Trio group, in which has been a part of it since 2007, alongside musicians Diego Amaral and Julio Lemos. He was a guest professor of the discipline Núcleo de Choro at EMAC-UFG in 2017. Today, he is a multi-instrumentalist, acting as a flutist, saxophonist, clarinetist, accordionist and arranger in the scenario of samba, choro, mpb, orchestras, chamber music and recordings, as well as to participate in several music research conferences either publishing articles or as a listener. Currently, he is professor of music at the Music and Performing Arts Scholl at Federal University of Goias, focusing on ensemble practice, arrangement and improvisation. He is also one of the artists of the Guo Flute brand.
